Erika met Juliu Horvath in 1993 in New York City, where she had moved to study dance. She had only been dancing for a couple of years and whereas her technique consisted mainly of equal parts force and desire, she was extremely grateful to find a teacher who could guide her into the inner-workings of her own dance. She trained intensively with Juliu for the next 5 years in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. She went on to perform with Maureen Fleming, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Zen Companhia de Danca, Min Tanaka and Meftas Dance Theater. She is currently Associate Artistic Director of Soulskin Dance (director Adrianna Thompson). Erika is a Specialized GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Master Trainer. She was fortunate to work extensively with founder Juliu Horvath privately at White Cloud Studio in NYC in the 90's and has been teaching the GYROTONIC® Method for over 20 years across the globe. Because so much unique movement vocabulary explored in the formative years did not become part of the GYROTONIC® Foundation Training, Adrianna and her close colleague Miriam Barbosa asked to develop a specialized training program specific to dance under the guidance of Juliu. In 2008 they finally began teaching this innovative training program: GYROTONIC® Applications for Dancers Level I & II. The dance community responded so positively to the rehabilitative and strengthening elements of the program that it has become one of the most highly demanded training series' available. Based on requests from hundreds of participants deeply impacted from the program, a Level III Master Class Series has been developed.
