In 1988, Ms. Robbins came to New York to further her dance career. She studied many different styles of dance such as Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Japanese Classical dance and performed with several different choreographers. She has been a very successful director of education for Japanese children both at Educational Alliance West and Friends Academy in NYC. Naoko has also taught at nursery schools, and several dance schools including the 92nd Street Y’s Harkness Dance Center in NYC.
Since 1990, she has been an integral part of the Peridance faculty, teaching Ballet and GYROTONIC® exercise as well as serving as international student advisor. She has been mentor, and often friend to literally hundreds of parents, children and foreign dancers from all over the world. Ms. Robbins received certifications in the Montessori method, Dance Education Laboratory, and Music Together, increasing her expertise in children's education. Her GYROTONIC® training has inspired and motivated her discipline of both body and mind, expanding her entire outlook on education and life.
Naoko has started to expand from teaching in the US to also teaching in her home country, educating new GYROTONIC® teachers and making a bridge between the US and Japan.
The opening of her own studio is a natural culmination of her training and desire to teach others about the wondrous benefits of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®.
Yoshiko Furuse is originally from Nagano, Japan, where she began her ballet training. While attaining her B.S. in geography from Salem State College in Massachusetts, she continued her study of movement and dance, minoring in dance. Moving to NYC to continue her dance studies, she met master trainer Naoko Moriyama-Robbins at Peridance Center.
As a dancer, Ms. Furuse, upon finding that she had gained a balanced and strengthened body through GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methodology, decided to seek deeper understanding of this amazing movement method. Ms. Furuse is grateful to be a part of GYROTONIC® on Broadway and looks forward to sharing the wonders of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® with many people.
Jen is a somatic educator specializing in GYROTONIC®, GYROKINESIS® and Pilates. She holds certifications in GYROTONIC® Levels 1 and 2, the Jumping Stretching Board, and GYROTONIC® Applications for Scoliosis. She is also a Certified Pre-Trainer for both GYROTONIC® GYROKINESIS® modalities. Her favorite thing about the GYROTONIC® method is the connection of breath and movement and how that takes the body to a higher level of understanding, opening and mindfulness.
Jen teaches both rehabilitative and fitness-focused sessions that balance a keen sense of observation and intuition with a solid grounding in anatomy and biomechanics. Her teaching approach encourages the client to be an active participant in their growth and helps them find their innate ability to access movement as a healing tool. She helps clients institute small positive changes that unwind old movement patterns and lay the foundation for new, healthier pathways to move through the day.
Jen has worked with clients of all ages and abilities from seasoned athletes to post-injury rehab, and those brand new to fitness. She completed her mat Pilates training under Kelly Kane at the Kane School of Core Integration and continued her full apparatus training with Ellie Herman.
Outside of the studio Jen is a distance runner, beachgoer, dance enthusiast and Teaching Artist with a Master of Arts in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York.
Rie Fukuzawa is a Certified GYROTONIC® Trainer and GYROKINESIS® Pre-Trainer. She is originally from Japan, received her Master of Arts in dance education from Ochanomizu University. Rie came to NY to study dance and develop her career with a scholarship from Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artist. While experincing dance training, she was really inspired from GYROTONIC® Method. Rie has been learning under Specialized Master Trainer Naoko Moriyama-Robbins. Her pleasure is sharing her experience through GYROTONIC® Method.
Mutsuyo Isaacs was born and raised in Kobe, Japan.
At four years old, she began her ballet training at Michiko Kozuki Ballet School(Branch of Tani Momoko Ballet) and performed classic repertory. Since then she has moved to New York, expanded her dance career and has worked with choreographers such as Yasuko Yokoshi, Yumi Terayama, Igal Perry and many others.
By studying GYROKINESIS® with master trainer Naoko Moriyama-Robbins, her understanding of the body was greatly deepened. She wants to help new people train physically and mentally, to further enhance their lives.
Emilie Roberts is a dancer, engineer, teacher, and roller-derby athlete. Originally from Alberta, Canada, Emilie spent ten years pursuing her dance career in Montréal before moving to New York in 2014. Her study of the GYROTONIC® method with Master Trainer Naoko Moriyama-Robbins has deepened her understanding of the body and how the technique can help people move in a healthy, balanced, and freer way. Cheerful and energetic, she loves sharing the exploration of this unique training method with people who do not have an extensive movement background or who may be facing challenges in their bodies as well as with athletes and performers.
Karen is a dynamic, Canadian born NYC based dancer, actor and teacher. She trained professionally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional Division and has performed at Madison Square Garden with PHISH; the World Premiere of the Canadian Opera Companyʼs Das Rheingold (Wagner Ring Cycle); the Canada Winter Games and other companies around the world. She is certified in Usui Reiki (Level III) and is U.S. Member of the International Dance Council CID, recognized by UNESCO.
Karen was introduced to the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® while recovering from a neck injury. One of the things Karen loves most about the GYROTONIC® Method is how well it aligns with the body’s natural intelligence and connection to flow. Karen looks forward to facilitating more freedom of movement and ease for GYROTONIC® on Broadway clients.
Kotono Yamazaki is a licensed GYROTONIC® trainer. She is originally from Tokyo, Japan and grew up in Connecticut. At a young age she was classically trained in Vaganova technique as a ballet dancer. She was first exposed to GYROKINESIS® through a 5-week intensive Summer Dance Program at Boston Ballet. She was instantly fascinated by its methodology and philosophy and appreciated the astonishing benefits it offered.
Upon graduating high school, she continued with her dance career and was recruited as a dancer in a contemporary ballet company Configuration Dance Theater in Buffalo, NY. Two years later she moved to NYC to join the Metropolitan Opera Theater as a dancer and performed their first ever production of Armida. Eager to expand her horizons, she applied to a CUNY school and earned her bachelors of art in biology at Lehman college, class of 2016.
In search of cultivating another passion she rediscovered GYROTONIC® at GYROTONIC® on Broadway and concluded to studying under master trainer Naoko Moriyama-Robbins. Shortly after, she successfully acquired her GYROTONIC® certification.
Yasuko Sato is a certified Instructor in GYROTONIC®, GYROKINESIS®, Jumping/Stretching Board, GYROTONER®, Leg extention and a certified GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® pre-trainer. She is originally from Japan was a professional dancer in NYC.Because She started her dance training late teens,she had strated seriously seeking any method which is able to change her body and mind. While experiencing many methods, she was really inspired and moved from inside through GYROTONIC®. Since 2004 she started learning GYROTONIC® and had started teaching it from 2005 to 2011 in NYC, Tokyo and Singapore. In 2015, Yasuko opened her GYROTONIC® Studio, Beyond of the Body in Roppongi, Tokyo. Her pleasure is sharing her experience through Gyro session and supporting to reconnect people’s mind and body towards happy life.
Paola is a GYROTONIC® Master Trainer, and GYROKINESIS® pre-trainer. Paola taught ballet for a decade in Italy and completed a course of study at the Academie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo. After joining Juliu Horvath's NYC studio WHITE CLOUD®, she was certified in GYROTONIC® in 1998, and GYROKINESIS® in 1999. While establishing a successful private practice for over a decade, she certified in the GYROTONER®, the Jumping Stretching Board, & Leg Extension unit. She attended the GYROTONIC® level 2 course given by Juliu Horvath and completed the GYROTONIC® Therapeutic Applications courses for the pelvic girdle, scoliosis, and shoulder girdle given by Paul Horvath.
Paola has been on staff at GYROTONIC® on Broadway since 2012. She works with individual clients, as well as giving pre-training and foundation courses for aspiring teachers. Paola's perspective is to bring your focus back to intuitive movement - the way animals move - without analytical thought - relearning what animals never forgot, but humans have suppressed - spontaneous natural movement. Jului's system enhances the quality of all movements - spanning a range from daily activities, to performance art and athletics.
Paula Rivera GYROTONIC® Pre-Trainer Certified GYROTONIC® GYROKINESIS® trainer Paula Rivera comes to the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® from an extensive background in Dance and Fitness. She has been a fitness professional in and around NYC for 10 years. Paula joined MoMIX Dance Company in 2007 and toured the globe with them full time until 2013.
Paula was first exposed to the GYROTONIC® method as part of her early dance training, and later returned after a successful career with MoMiX to investigate this method in order to become a teacher. As a dance and fitness professional, Paula has taken every opportunity to expand her knowledge of the human body. Even at a young age she learned to cultivate a passionate interest in health, fitness and the mind body connection. This lifelong commitment has motivated Paula to seek avenues that allow her to develop herself as an athlete and an as artist from a healthful, grounded place. This path has led her to a life not only as a certified fitness professional but as a professional ballet dancer and now a passionate GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® instructor. Paula is a certified GYROTONIC® trainer level I and level II, as well for the specialized equipment.
Paula started the path to become an educator and is currently a certified Pre-Trainer for the GYROTONIC® method. In the past two years she has traveled to Brazil, Bali, and Germany to study with the founder of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®, Juliu Horvath. She maintains a private clientele in NYC and participates in a cooperative with several other GYROTONIC® trainers in lower Manhattan.
Mariarosa Guglielmi began her journey as a teacher of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® in 1992 at the White Cloud Studio, the original home base of the GYROTONIC® method, where she trained and instructed under the supervision of Juliu Horvath until 1998. Mariarosa’s passion to move both as a dancer and choreographer led her to GYROTONIC® and her curiosity of the body’s inner realm has kept her exploring and sharing this unique form of art.
Based out of New York City and Mexico City, as an Authorized Master Trainer, Guglielmi continues to travel extensively worldwide offering teacher training courses in the GYROTONIC® , the GYROKINESIS® and all Specialized Equipment.
Erika met Juliu Horvath in 1993 in New York City, where she had moved to study dance. She had only been dancing for a couple of years and whereas her technique consisted mainly of equal parts force and desire, she was extremely grateful to find a teacher who could guide her into the inner-workings of her own dance. She trained intensively with Juliu for the next 5 years in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. She went on to perform with Maureen Fleming, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Zen Companhia de Danca, Min Tanaka and Meftas Dance Theater. She is currently Associate Artistic Director of Soulskin Dance (director Adrianna Thompson). Erika is a Specialized GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Master Trainer. She travels the world teaching workshops and trainings.
